A new Italian restaurant is opening at the hotel soon. Until it does, eat from the bar menu in the Lounge Bar, with local ales on the pumps and a shelf of whiskies behind them.
An Italian restaurant is on its way
The hotel's dining room is getting a new kitchen and a new menu. An Italian restaurant will open here soon.
We are getting the room ready for what comes next, and we will post the opening date, the menu and how to book a table on this page as soon as they are fixed.
In the meantime the Lounge Bar is open every day and serves the bar menu, and hotel guests still come down to a cooked breakfast.
Opening soon: the Italian restaurant
The new restaurant will take over the hotel's dining room, with its chandelier and tall windows. It will be open to everyone, not only people staying at the hotel.
The menu and opening hours are still being finalised. Call the hotel on 01980 623163 if you would like to know when the first tables can be booked.
Open now: the bar menu
The dishes you would hope to find in an old coaching inn, such as battered fish and chips and burgers, along with the full English breakfast.
The bar menu covers sandwiches and light snacks, gourmet burgers, haddock and chips, grills and afternoon tea. You can eat it in the bar, on the terrace or in the garden.
Local ales, a wall of spirits and an open fire
The Lounge Bar is the hotel's main bar and is open to the public. It is fully licensed and stocks whiskies, spirits, local ales, branded lagers and cider, along with tea and coffee. Sit up at the counter, take a booth, or claim the sofa by the fire and stay there.
In summer, carry your glass out to the rose garden, where the Terrace has its own outdoor bar with chilled bottled beers, draught cider, lager and real ales, and a built-in barbecue. Dogs are welcome in the bar and the garden.
