The Beatles Suite
The Beatles stayed at The Antrobus. This is the room we named after them.
Four famous guests
Plenty of hotels claim a famous visitor. Ours were the most famous band in the world, and they slept here.
The Beatles came to Wiltshire in May 1965 to film scenes for Help! on Salisbury Plain. For three days, from 3 to 6 May, they stayed here, at what was then the Antrobus Arms, while they worked. Photographs of their stay are further down this page.
The hotel has had cameras in since. The BBC used it as a location for the Miss Marple story Nemesis.
The suite is decorated in black and white, with a double bed, an armchair and a tall window with a radiator beneath it, and a row of framed black and white photographs of the band along the wall above the bed. Press cuttings from the time, photographs of the band at work on the plain and framed album covers hang elsewhere in the room.

Three days in May 1965
The band spent their days on the plain, filming the scenes in which they play surrounded by soldiers and tanks, and came back to the hotel at night. These photographs show them out on the plain, in the hotel's rooms and at its front door.

The plain is on the doorstep
Salisbury Plain starts at the edge of town, and Stonehenge sits on it under three miles from the hotel. Drive up for the stones in the morning, walk the banks at Durrington Walls after lunch, and be back in the bar by six.
